Monday Focus: Keep Doing What Works

I have noticed something about myself lately: I do better when I stop trying to reinvent everything.

There is always another thing I could add. Another habit I could track. Another strategy I could try. Another way I could make this whole weight loss thing more complicated than it needs to be.

But right now, I actually feel pretty good about the direction I am going, so this week’s Monday Focus is less about changing course and more about staying consistent with the things I already know are helping me.

I don’t need a brand-new plan every Monday. Sometimes I just need to keep going.

Keep Recording What I Eat

I am continuing with the food tracking and vlogging.

I really like recording what I eat because it gives me a running picture of what my actual life looks like instead of some imaginary version of how I think I am eating. The more I do it, the more useful I find it.

I can look back. I can notice patterns. I can see where I am getting plenty of protein and where I am not. I can see how often I am eating out. I can actually look at the week instead of trying to remember it.

And I like that this method lets me be honest without requiring me to make my food perfect.

I am not recording my food because I want to pretend I eat perfectly. I am recording it because I want to see my real life.

Protein First Thing

I also want to keep protein at the front of my day.

When I get protein in early, I feel better about the rest of the day. It gives me something solid to build from instead of getting to lunch and realizing I have somehow consumed approximately seven grams of protein and a questionable amount of caffeine.

So this week, protein first thing in the morning is staying on the list.

It does not need to be complicated. I just want to make it one of those things I do because I already know it works well for me.

And those two things are pretty straightforward.

The third one is a little more complicated.

Because I am not trying to completely cut anything out, and I am not interested in creating another set of food rules that I will inevitably get tired of following. I am trying to figure out what actually makes sense for me right now, based on the way I am eating, the way I am living, and where I want to go next.

And that is where this week’s focus gets a little more interesting.

🟨 HIGHLIGHT THIS: I am not trying to eat perfectly. I am trying to make better decisions more consistently.

Inside the paid section, I want to talk about the one change I am making around fast food, why I am not eliminating it completely, and how I am thinking about making choices more intentionally without turning this into another diet.

Because I think there is a big difference between restricting something and simply deciding you want less of it.

And Then There Is Fast Food
