189.
That's the number this morning, and before you say anything, I already know. I couldn't get my wedding ring off without running it under water, which is my body's very polite way of telling me I'm holding on to a whole lot of sodium right now.
Yesterday was a big day. We were out from morning until night, we did not eat well, and I genuinely cannot remember drinking a single glass of water. So I'm not confused about why the scale went up two pounds from last week's 187. I know exactly where those two pounds came from, and it isn't fat.
When your rings are tight, the scale is telling you about yesterday, not about you.
But the number isn't really what I want to talk about today. What I want to talk about is the pattern, because I finally said it out loud and I think some of you are going to recognize yourself in it.
My real problem isn't the plan
Here's what I do. I'm consistent, consistent, consistent, and the scale starts moving, and I feel amazing about it. Then one day happens, a big day, a busy day, a day where I just stop paying attention, and it brings the scale right back up to where it was. So I get consistent again, and it comes back down, and then another one day shows up and does the same thing.
That's the loop I've been stuck in, and I want to be really honest about what's causing it. It has nothing to do with Picky Girl HQ. I know HQ works, because I'm watching women lose weight using it, and it worked for me every single day I actually used it, including the night it talked me out of the drive-thru last week. The tool isn't the part that's breaking down.
My problem isn't starting. My problem is staying.
I'm really good at the first stretch of something. Staying with it long term, through the boring weeks and the big days and the Saturdays where we're out all day, is the part I've never fully figured out. And I'm done pretending that's a food problem or a plan problem when I know it's a me problem.
This is why I need the chat
If you're someone who knows exactly what to do and still can't seem to keep doing it, that's what Girl Code Daily is really for. Not more information, but people who notice when you go quiet, a weigh-in every Sunday whether the number is good or not, and a place to say "I had a big day" out loud before it turns into a big week.
And that's exactly what November is about. Our next monthly challenge is The No Disappearing Challenge: one check-in a day, every day, even on the big days and the bad ones. Every paid member is in. If you have HQ or the Hub, I'll be showing you how to use them to make your check-ins even easier. Full details are coming this week.
And if you're yearly, this morning is our very first Hub Sunday reset in the chat. I'll be doing mine right there with you, picking one focus for this week. Yearly members get Picky Girl HQ and the Hub in their perks, and if you're monthly, you can switch to yearly from your account page and grab both right away.
Inside this thread:
My shot day plan for today, and how I'm handling a sodium morning without panicking about the number.
What "one day" actually looks like for me, and why it keeps undoing my good weeks.
The question I'm asking myself this week about staying with something long term, and I want your answer too.
Your weigh-in. Drop your number, or don't. Either way, I want to hear about your week.
Why join Girl Code Daily?
This weigh-in is one post. Inside Girl Code Daily, the whole week is built around the exact thing I'm struggling with today: showing up again after the big day. Here are a few posts members are already reading:
Go yearly and Picky Girl HQ and the Hub both come with it, waiting in your perks the minute you upgrade.
