On Monday, we talked about going back to what works, and I loved reading through everyone’s Focus for the week. More steps. Planning food. Actually eating the food you prepped instead of watching it slowly become refrigerator leftovers that nobody wants by Thursday. Packing lunches for work. Walking. Stretching. Getting in a couple of short workouts. Staying out of the takeout apps.
What stood out to me is that none of us were really trying to reinvent our lives this week. Most of these goals were things we already know help us feel better, but consistency has a funny way of becoming complicated when life gets busy. We start looking for a new answer when sometimes the answer is simply going back to the things that were already working before everything got loud.
The difference between Monday and Wednesday, though, is that by now the plan has had to meet real life. Work happened. Kids happened. Exhaustion happened. The meal you were excited to prep on Sunday might not look nearly as appealing anymore, and the walk that seemed easy to fit into your week when you were making the plan might now be competing with seventeen other things that apparently all needed your attention.
Wednesday is where we stop talking about the plan we intended to follow and start paying attention to the life we are actually living.
