Last Wednesday I had to tell you the walking pad was not going well, and on Monday I promised I'd come back today with the truth, even if the answer was the same as last week. It's not the same. I'm two for two, and the second day happened on a night I would have bet money I'd skip.

Tuesday was one of those go, go, go days. I came home from work, made dinner, ran around doing a hundred little things, and then headed back out for an extra volleyball practice. By the time I walked back in the door it was 8 o'clock, and every part of me wanted to call the day done.

The five minutes found a ride

Instead of waiting for a free half hour that was never coming, I got on the walking pad and edited my What I Eat in a Day vlog while I walked. I was going to be sitting there editing anyway, so I just did it on the walking pad instead of the couch. Seven minutes later my focus was done for the day, a chunk of my vlog was done too, and it honestly didn't feel like I had added anything to my night at all.

The five minutes didn't need a free evening. It needed something to ride along with.

If your focus keeps getting pushed to tomorrow, try attaching it to something you're already going to do today. That's the part I'm taking into the rest of this week, and I think it's the part that's going to make five minutes a day actually stick for me.

My one focus, 5 minutes on the walking pad: Monday 20 min, Tuesday 7 min. Two for two.

Inside this thread

  • Monday, the easy day. A headache, a wide open evening, and how five minutes turned into twenty.

  • The step question. Whether my watch even counts steps when my hands are on a laptop, and why I decided I don't care.

  • The step challenge home stretch, with 11 days left in October.

  • Your focuses from Monday, how they're going, and your copy and paste check in.
