You Can Want the Weight Gone and Still Want Your Spark Back

The food noise went quiet. So did everything else. Let's figure out why, plus two new printables.

Your spark called. It wants a group chat.

You laughed at something today and realized it’s been a while.

The food noise is gone. You wanted that. You prayed for that. But lately it feels like the volume got turned down on everything else too, and you’re not sure you’re allowed to say that out loud.

You are. And you’re not the only one.

I’m going to admit something. I stay on a really low dose, and part of the reason is that I’m scared of exactly this.

What women keep telling me

If you’ve been on a GLP-1 for a while, you’ve probably heard some version of this.

“The food noise is gone, which is amazing. But so is... everything?”

Women describing it like someone turned the volume down. Not sad, exactly. Just flat. Things they used to love feel kind of meh. They laugh less. They don’t care about stuff they normally care about. And then they feel guilty for complaining, because isn’t this what they wanted?

I hear it all the time. Especially from women on the highest doses, on both tirzepatide and semaglutide.

I believe them. I think a lot of us are dealing with this and just not saying it out loud.

Because how do you say it? “The medication is working, but I kind of miss feeling like me.” That’s a hard sentence to type into a comment section. It feels ungrateful. It feels like you’re asking for too much.

You’re not. Wanting to feel like yourself while your body changes is not asking for too much. It’s the whole point.

Why I haven’t gone all the way up

Here’s my honest truth. I’ve never really felt the flatness. And I’m pretty sure that’s because I stay so low.

Part of me wonders what would happen if I dosed all the way up. And part of me doesn’t want to find out.

I’d rather lose it slower and still feel like myself.

That’s my choice, for my body. It’s not a rule and it’s not advice. Dosing is a conversation between you and the person prescribing it, and your right dose might look nothing like mine.

But I want you to know that staying low isn’t failing. If it’s working, it’s working. You don’t get a prize for reaching the top of the dose chart.

The part that makes it so confusing

Okay, here’s the thing. Even if the medication can do this, it’s not the only thing that can.

As I get older, I can feel my emotions and my anxiety shifting. Hormones are no joke. Some weeks I’m just more wound up, or more teary, or more tired, and nothing about my dose changed.

So I can totally see how it would all pile on top of each other. The med, your cycle, your sleep, the week you just had, eating almost nothing because you’re not hungry.

When you feel off, you can’t tell what’s doing it.

That’s the hard part.

And when you can’t tell, you either ignore it, or you blame yourself. Neither one helps.

So today I made you something that does. Actually, two somethings.

Inside today’s members post

  • Is It the Med or Is It Me? A 7-page printable check-in: name what you’re feeling, track it for two weeks, spot the pattern, and walk into your next appointment with real notes.

  • The October Step Challenge PDF. Pick your number, set your bad-day minimum, and track all 31 days (with a mood check, because moving changes how we feel).

  • When I’d stop waiting it out. The signs it’s more than a blah week, in plain words.

  • Questions to ask yourself before you dose up (or don’t). So the decision is yours, not the dose chart’s.

  • Your thread prompt, so we can actually talk about this together.

Why join Girl Code Daily?

Everything I write comes back to one idea: nobody should have to figure this out alone, or feel weird for saying the quiet part.

Every day inside Girl Code Daily we actually do this together: the Sunday Weigh In, Monday Focus, the Wednesday Check In, Friday Wins, a new printable every Saturday, and a monthly challenge (October is steps), with women who get it. Here’s what members are reading right now:
