The shame spiral that shows up at 9pm has never once been about willpower. Come find out what it was actually about.

There’s a specific kind of confused I used to feel around 9pm. Not hungry exactly, at first. Just standing in the kitchen with the fridge open, running through the day like I was building a case against myself. I ate fine. I wasn’t even that hungry all day. So why does this feel like the medication just stopped working the second the sun went down.

I want to walk you through what I’ve since learned, because it isn’t one thing. It’s two separate systems, running on two separate schedules, that happen to both hit their worst point at almost exactly the same hour. And once I saw both of them at the same time, the 9pm version of me stopped looking like a discipline problem and started looking like something a lot more understandable.

The first clock: your medication
