I didn’t set a goal on Monday…oops. Food-wise I think I’m doing okay this week. I have a doctors appointment tomorrow and will decide whether to stay at my current dose or go up. I’m losing weight fine on this dose but sometimes the food noise creeps back less than halfway through the week. I’ve been resisting the urge to overeat but miss the quiet and wonder how long that’ll be sustainable.
no oops needed, you showed up today and that's what matters.
the fact that you're resisting the urge instead of just giving in is a huge win, even if it feels exhausting to hold that line. but I understand wanting that quiet back! I might absolutely be time to move up!
hope tomorrow's appointment gives you some clarity either way. rooting for whatever decision feels right for your body.
I’ve been meaning to check in all week! My goal on Monday was to incorporate walks during my work day again. So far, so good! I’ve gotten the walks in. I had a doctors appointment today, and I’m down 10lbs from when I saw her last, 3 months ago.
i love that your goal wasn't about the scale, it was about the habit, and the scale still moved. that's usually how it actually works even when it doesn't feel like it in the moment.
so glad you checked in!! && 10 pounds in 3 months is HUGE!!
Well, I knew I was eating more at my cousin’s ranch over the holiday weekend. My scale said I also worked a lot getting things ready and then cleaning up. With no intentional workouts, I got home up 5 lbs. Better than my weekend in Vegas last month (that was up 9.5 lbs). And it took me three weeks to get back to the weight I hit before Vegas.
We got home Sunday night at 2:30 am after mild flight delays and a long drive home from the airport. I got 3 1/2 hours of sleep, because I needed to see my dad in the hospital before work.
I voiced 4 goals on Monday’s check-in. And so far I’ve completed ✔️ two of them and I see the finish line for the third. The fourth is one I’ve been dragging my feet on because, although it will help me immensely, it impacts someone else who relies on me (even if it’s unfair). I may need another all with my cousin to get that extra push. Encouragement is 💯 welcome. 🙏
The 5 lbs up on my Tuesday morning weigh-in must have been residual from not enough sleep and stress, because this morning’s weight was only 2 lbs up from last week’s number.
My dad came home with me yesterday and now my wife and I have her mom and my dad living with us. We can do hard things.
I hope you all are as encouraged as I am by Nyk and this community. I thought I was starting a grand task with my newsletter, but maybe God had something else in mind for me, connection with others and a place to listen and be heard.
first, the math on the weight is exactly right. that's not "failure," that's a body responding to travel, salt, stress, and 3.5 hours of sleep. your Tuesday number wasn't real. today's number is closer to real. you already know this, you just needed someone else to say it back to you.
but honestly the thing that stuck with me most isn't the scale. it's that you're now caregiving for two parents while still showing up, still checking in, still hitting goals. two out of four in a week like that is huge. genuinely.
that fourth goal, the one you're dragging your feet on because it affects someone else. i get why that one's heavy. sometimes the goals that help us most are the ones that cost someone else something, even when it's fair. you don't have to solve it today. but I know you'll get to it.
and for what it's worth, we're the ones who are thankful for you. this is exactly what this space is for.
Barely ate dinner last night—just wasn’t hungry, so I had cheese & crackers. And still the scale was up —303.6, after 301.9 on Sunday. Got 7 hours of sleep last night, too.😖
the scale is annoying. What time did you eat the cheese and crackers? I wonder if that has something to do with it? Inflammation from the sodium maybe?
Mine was to make it to the gym. Has not happened yet. Grandkids for a couple of days. Taking care of Mom who lives 30 min away and of course World Cup (we are big fans and cannot miss a game). I have been swimming and doing some exercises in the pool but not the same as weightlifting at the gym. I still have some time left in the week so I may still make it.
Here’s my sleep goal, bed by 9PM, phone down at 10PM but I haven’t gotten there yet. Instead I’ve been one hour off, bed by 10, phone down by 11. I’m getting closer though!!
Maybe tonight I’ll do it!!
I’m doing volleyball camp this && I’ve started walking Izzy, so movement is happening just not the gym… 😅😅

sending you rest, if you can find any this week!

Could be. It was kind of late — after 7, at least — because I wasn’t hungry enough to eat lunch until after 2
That makes sense.
I find that if I eat later in the day it takes longer to digest (which makes sense for GLP1)

that counts. Swimming absolutely COUNTS!! you already know I'm with you.
